Pallet Shuttle vs. Pallet Flow Racking (FIFO Applications)

In FIFO environments, shuttle racking can offer advantages over pallet flow depending on facility conditions. Because shuttle systems do not require a gravity slope from load to unload, they can achieve higher storage density and more pallet positions, particularly in buildings with constrained or variable ceiling heights. Shuttle racking also typically delivers a lower cost per pallet position and eliminates a common pallet flow challenge, pallets becoming stuck in deep lanes, resulting in more predictable operation and system reliability.

Pallet Shuttle vs. Push‑Back Racking (LIFO Applications)

In LIFO environments, shuttle‑based systems can offer advantages over traditional push‑back racking depending on facility conditions. Conventional cart‑style push‑back racking systems are typically limited to approximately six pallet positions deep, while shuttle‑based configurations are generally limited only by available floor space.
